5 tracks where you can drive a real formula 1 car

For those who love the adrenaline rush from speed, there is no other experience like driving an F1 car. The sound of the roaring engine, the excitement from the car skimming the air, and the feeling of the world zooming past you in the blink of an eye – driving an F1 car is an unforgettable adventure. The best part is that you can do all that without becoming an F1 driver. All thanks to certain organizers who offer the opportunity to drive Formula 1 cars on some of the world's most famous Formula 1 racing tracks.

Dubai Autodrome

Get the kicks from driving a Formula 1 car with the F1 Jaguar 2000 R1 3.0-litre, 550hp naturally aspirated Judd V-8 or F1 Arrows 2002 in Dubai's renowned Autodrome circuit. These cars have been fine-tuned to give drivers the same intense experience as F1 car racing. The experience starts with a safety briefing and a 2-lap familiarisation round in a BMW 330i. This is followed by 10 minutes of driving in a Radical Sportscar for an even more intense driving experience.

Finally, take the wheel in the F1 Jaguar 2000 or the F1 Arrows 2002 for 4 laps. You are also presented with a certificate after the drive. The entire experience costs approximately USD 2,720. Also, there are options available to drive other powerful cars, such as the BMW M5 and the Ferrari GT.

Bovingdon Airfield

The Bovingdon Airfield in Hertfordshire, England, offers a Jordan EJ12 Grand Prix car that Giancarlo Fisichella and Takuma Sato drove in the 2002 season. The Jordan F1 has a 600hp, 10,500 rpm engine and a top speed of 161 km/h. At Track Days, drivers have to undergo a full briefing and training program, followed by 14 practice laps on the Memphis Drift Circuit, four demonstration laps with a training coach, as well as 30 laps in the F1000 single-seater, and 30 laps in the Jordan F1 around the Bomber B-17 Circuit. These five hours of experience cost USD 4,900.

Red Bull Ring, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

Puresport Racing School, located in Correzzana, Italy, offers an F1 driving experience beyond compare through their VIP Programme. Drivers can choose between three racing tracks - Monza and Mugello in Italy, and Red Bull Ring in Austria - all of which are renowned racetracks. The package includes staying in a five-star hotel near the racetrack, helicopter transfer, an open bar and light lunch, a driving simulator at Monza racetrack, technical apparel, specialized technicians, and sparkling wine at the end of the experience.

Under the Formula 1 Advanced Experience, drivers can take 10 laps in a Formula 3 F302, followed by 10 laps in a Formula 3 F308, and 10 laps in an Arrows F1 car. Alternatively, they can opt for the Ferrari GT Experience or the Ferrari Evolution Experience, which offers the best Ferrari supercars for driving.

For those wishing to drive an F1 single-seater race car, Puresport offers various European circuits in Italy, Hockenheimring in Germany, and the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium. The average cost of an F1 experience in any of these tracks is around USD 4160.

Autódromo Internacional do Algarve

LRS Formula offers four categories of driving an F1 experience: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Full. These experiences are available at five acclaimed European circuits, such as Magny-Cours Grand Prix and Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.

The Bronze program includes a Formula Renault 2.0 with a 200hp engine and Tatuus chassis and a Prost AP04 or Benetton B198 with a 650hp engine.

The Silver program features the 700hp Jaguar R2 and the Prost V10.

The Gold program offers the complete experience with the Williams 2011 with a Cosworth F1 engine that delivers over 900hp. The Full Experience combines cars from all three programs plus a three-seater F1 car.

Circuit Paul Ricard

LRS Formula, founded and run by former F1 test driver and Formula 3 champion Laurent Redon, offers three levels of driving experience.

The Bronze experience offers a 650 hp Benetton B198 from 1998 or a 2001-season Prost AP04. To get a little extra, the Silver option provides 750 hp in a 2002 Jaguar R3.

The Gold selection, priced around $6,500, is ideal for those who want to experience the true power of an F1 car: a 2011 Williams FW33 with 750 hp at 18,000 Rpm. Drive days take place at renowned racing tracks for cars in France, Spain, and Portugal and start with time behind the wheel of 200 hp Formula Renault 2.0 cars, the type of car Kimi Räikkönen raced before his F1 career.
